Tours depart from the South Shore Visitor Center on Lawai Road across from Spouting Horn Park in Poipu.
Chartered by Congress, the National Tropical Botanical Garden is a privately funded, non-profit research and education institution with gardens and preserves in Hawai'i and in south Florida. The Hawai'i collections feature rare and endanged species of the tropical world with an emphasis on establishing conservation and research collections of native Hawaiian plants. The McBryde Garden contains a number of research and conservation collections while the Allerton Garden is a landscaped estate garden. Special collections include native Hawaiian plants, Polynesian medicinal plants, Rubiaceae (Coffee Family), breadfruit cultivars, erythrinas, and palms.
Guided tours of the Allerton Garden are available daily at 9:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. The tour fee is $45 per adult and $20 for children 10 to 12 years old; children under 10 are not allowed on these tours. Self-guided tours of the McBryde Garden are available daily and trams into the valley leave every hour starting at 9:30 a.m. with the last one leaving at 2:30 p.m. The self-guided tour fee is $20 per adult and $10 for children 6 to 12 years old; no fee for children 5 years and under. Located on the grounds of the Kukuiolono Public Golf Course; less than a mile down Papalina Road from Highway 50 (Kaumuali'i Highway)
The golf course was built in 1929 by Walter McBryde. The park adjacent to the golf course features a small Japanese Garden, Hawaiian legend stones, and panoramic views. There is a short loop trail around the garden. The park is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. No entrance fee.

Located in Ha'ena, one-half mile past the nine-mile marker on Kuhio Highway (Hwy. 56 then Hwy. 560)
This 17-acre garden includes ancient taro terraces, plants introduced by early Polynesians, and plantings of native Hawaiian species. Both guided and self-guided tours of the garden are available Tuesday through Saturday. The garden is open for self-guided tours from 9:30 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. Admission fee for self-guided tours is $15 per person; children 12 years and younger are free. Guided tours start at 10:00 a.m. Fees for guided tours are $30 per adult and $15.00 for children 10 to 12 years old; children under 10 are not allowed on these tours. Follow the path around to the back of the restaurant on the grounds of the Outrigger Kihuna Plantation.
Previously, this area was the plantation manager's estate for Hawaii's first sugar plantation, Koloa Plantation. Moir Gardens is a famous garden developed by Alexandra "Sandie" Moir while her husband was the manager in the 1930s. The garden was first opened to the public in 1954 and includes rare cactus and succulents, bromeliads, orchids, mature drought tolerant trees, and water lily ponds. Open to the public every day without charge.

From Lihue, drive North past the 21-mile marker and take the first right turn onto Wailapa Road. At the end of the half-mile road, enter through the iron gate on the right. From Princeville, drive South approximately 6.5 miles and take the second left turn past the 22-mile marker onto Wailapa Road.
Started in 1982 by Ed and Joyce Doty and donated to a not-for-profit foundation in 2000, Na 'Aina Kai is a unique 240 acre garden containing more than 90 bronze sculptures, diverse garden areas and water features, a hardwood plantation, and a sandy beach. Special gardens include a full size hedge maze, desert garden, bog plant house, and an award winning minuature ahupua'a. Garden tours are offered Tuesday through Friday throughout the year. All tours are guided and limited to adults and children 13 or older. Family tours are also available by appointment. Tours vary from 1 1/2 hour walking tours to 2 hour riding tours to 5 hour treks.
